How much does it really cost to hire an admin in Malaysia?
More than the salary. On a RM2,500 salary the employer also pays about RM325 EPF, RM44 SOCSO and RM5 EIS, so the admin costs about RM2,874 a month, or about RM34,500 a year before bonus, laptop, leave cover and training.
The salary
Job sites put admin pay in Johor and most of Malaysia at about RM2,100 to RM3,000 a month. The minimum wage is RM1,700.
What the employer adds
EPF is 13% for salaries up to RM5,000. SOCSO is about 1.75% and EIS 0.2% up to the RM6,000 ceiling. At minimum wage that is about RM1,954 a month in total; at RM2,500 it is about RM2,874.
The costs nobody writes down
Recruiting, two or three months to learn your way of working, a computer and phone, annual and sick leave when the work stops, and starting again when the admin resigns.
