How do I follow up customers without spamming?
Message only customers who agreed to receive offers, only when there is a reason that matters to them, and make it easy to say stop. Lucco Boss shows a “message today” list of customers whose vouchers or points are expiring, who have a birthday or who have not been back for 30 days or more, and has a do-not-contact option.
Ask first
When you collect a phone number, ask clearly whether the customer wants offers by WhatsApp and keep a record. Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, customers can ask you to stop sending marketing, so keep a do-not-contact list and respect it.
Have a reason
A message is welcome when it is about the customer: their voucher ends this week, they have points to use, it is their birthday, or they have not been back in a while. Sending the same promotion to everyone every week is what gets you blocked.
Keep it short and personal
Use their name, say one thing and add one link or one button. Send at a sensible hour, and follow up an unanswered message once at most.
How Lucco Boss does it
The customer list in Lucco Boss has a “message today” list: vouchers or points expiring, birthdays, and customers not back for 30 days or more. WhatsApp is offered only for customers who agreed to offers, and the do-not-contact option keeps a customer off every list.
