Does my membership system need its own app?
Not to start with. Most customers will not download an app for one shop, but they will scan a QR once. A member page on their phone, added to the home screen, gives them points, stored value and vouchers without a download. Lucco Boss works this way. A store listed app under your own brand is something Boss does not offer today.
Why customers skip shop apps
A phone is full of apps and each one asks for space, a sign up and permission to send alerts. For a café or a salon people visit now and then, that is too much. A QR at the counter and a phone number takes about ten seconds.
What a member page gives you
Points for each visit or ringgit, stored value, packages, vouchers, member levels and a gift for bringing a friend. Customers add the page to their home screen, so it sits next to their other apps. You reach members on WhatsApp, only those who agreed to hear from you.
If you still want your own app
Ask three things first. Does the app do something a web page cannot? Apple can turn down an app that is only a website in a wrapper, so check the current App Store Review Guidelines. What is the yearly cost of the developer accounts and who renews them? And who updates the app when your offers change? A store listed app under your own brand is not something Boss offers today.
