What do I say when a customer has not paid?

Send three messages in rising order: a friendly reminder the day after the due date with the invoice attached, a clear one after about two weeks that names the amount and a pay by date, and a final one that says what happens next. Keep each short and polite, and always attach the invoice.

Message 1, friendly

"Hi Mr Tan, a small reminder that invoice 1024 for RM1,800 was due yesterday. The invoice is attached. If you have paid, please send me the slip and ignore this."

Message 2, clear

"Hi Mr Tan, invoice 1024 for RM1,800 is now two weeks overdue. Could you pay by Friday? Please tell me if there is a problem so we can sort it out."

Message 3, final

"Mr Tan, invoice 1024 for RM1,800 is still unpaid. If I do not hear from you by Monday I will have to stop further deliveries and pass this to my advisers." Send this only when you are ready to follow through.

How Lucco Boss helps

It lists who is overdue and for how long, writes the reminder with the invoice attached, and sends it only after you reply 1. Boss does not send a reminder without your reply.
